Robbie Kennedy Bennett has written a brilliant poem called "the Kingdom of Fife"Its how he saw it when he visited his dads birthplace. Its what he would have asked his dad.

Dear Henry

I’m using your Guestbook to blatantly advertise my poetry collection. ‘Tribe’, one of the new poems on the site just now, is included in the book. A book goes out into the world, into the hands of strangers. You never know what most readers think, but you do get feedback from friends. The curious thing I’ve begun to notice with this book is that friends mention different poems as their favourites. Some like the ones about Scotland, such as ‘Tribe’, or the one about my Ayrshire childhood, or the two poems about Orkney. Another friend likes ‘Buying Tobacco in Spain’, one of several about fleeting encounters that remain in the memory. Another is keen on the two (not at all strident) anti-war poems. I’ve even begun to believe the publisher’s blurb, which talks about ‘poetry that will touch many readers’!

Details are: Clairvoyance: Selected Poems 1990-2007 by James Graham (Troubador 2007 – cover price £5.99). It’s available via Amazon. It’s best to go to the Amazon home page and search ‘James Graham Clairvoyance’ – if you search ‘James Graham’ you get the great Marquis of Montrose (no relation – I’m probably from the battling Border Grahams) and if you search ‘Clairvoyance’ you get the occult. You can ‘Search inside’ the book and read the first three poems.

I hope by posting this that I’m not behaving too much like the the double glazing salesman who comes to the door unbidden. All the same, I’d like visitors to the site to buy my book!

James.

I discovered this site only the other day, and like it. Poetry sites are often (to put it kindly) a bit sub-standard - but this is different. I'll explore further and submit a poem soon.

Just visiting, looking for love poems to write music for, I play the Highland Pipes. Perhaps one day I will need a song to propose to a Lass.
