"'S e briseadh-dùil a th' ann, a chàirdean, nach eil mo chànain-sa ri faicinn air làrach-lìn air a bheil "Scottish". Nach eil na Gàidheil nan Albannaich nas motha? Tha tòrr bhàrdachd sgrìobhte againne; carson nach eil sin air a riochdachadh an seo, mas e Poetry of Scotland a th' agaibh air? Le deagh dhùrachdan, Dàibhidh."

It was a disappointement, friends, that my own language isn't represented on a website called "Scottish". Aren't the Gaels Scots any longer? We have a tremendous amount of poetry written; why isn't it featured here if you're calling your site "Poetry of Scotland"? With kind regards, Dàibhidh.

PS Furthermore we could wonder why your website is monoglot English, rather than giving equal respect to Scotland's other two languages, Scots and Gaelic. If you don't set an example by using endangered languages, then you're part of the process that is killing them off by denying them a high-status platform upon which to be seen. If you care for the literature of Scotland's languages then much good could be done by facilitating visitors to navigate your site using them. I'm sure the Scots Language Society and one of the numerous Gaelic language organisations would assist you to render this otherwise praise-worthy site tri-lingual.

Thank you Gordon Fjaelberg for Where Is The Woman Who Loves Me?

The woman who loved me passed away last month. I should be certain of where she is. But an internet search brought me here.

My beautiful grandad, a true artist and poet. I am so glad that I can come on this site and still read your poems, even if it makes me cry.

Tom Barker, husband to Joyce. I am fortunate to have the most caring and wonderful grandparents, even though grandad is with me in memory.

Grandad is a featured poet and although he will write no more poems, the ones that he did were from his heart and that makes them even more special. Grandma was lucky to have such a romantic husband, but in saying that, grandad was lucky to have such a devoted wife!

Thank you for letting me learn so much more about my grandad through his poems on this site.

Sarah

My ancestors on my father's side are all from Scotland. I have been writing since I was 4. That was many years and tears ago. Someday, I will travel home to Scotland..it calls to me. I will try to write a poem about those feelings. I am happy to have found this site tonight. Jeannie
