Amber ©

Stella
Fife, Scotland
2004

Warm to the touch
Amber springs from the earth

Youth's amber set in precious gold
draws admiration from many
Then reset in silver
To wear in maturity
Then it is above price

Within lies a snapshot of life
Evidence of flowers .. fauna ..
and a bubble of laughter
Or is it a tear
I see embedded there

Laughter and tears
Glass half empty
Or half full

I see a butterfly there
Wings ready to fly
But time stops the race

Silver replaces the gold of youth
