A Tear In The Rain ©
For those who have fallen.
David Lee Sulgrove
Nine Mile Falls, USA
2005
along the river road
we walk one last time
pausing to admire beauty
as only a dream
life hangs about us
a tattered cloak
thoughts in the mind of us
where is hope
these humans destroy
they revel in their own destruction
there is no casting of pearls
there is no gathering of wisdom
only relentless slaughter
hour after bloody hour
consumed with greed of the moment
the jealousy of the day
deceived by false empires
pretending holiness
conceived among lies
full of corruption
what truth in all of this
what saving grace
as a single tear
falls unto the river
the rain
washes us clean
do not cry for us
cry for yourselves
