A Toast to Burns ©

Stella
Fife, Scotland
2005

A poet's eye and heart he saw in the everyday
Enough to record that a daisy's perfection
was worthy of his words

Yet to a drinking man Tam was a hero
A saga worth hearing. and telling

The romantic well take your pick
Mary at her window or coded billet doux

For the common man.. Recognition
Cocking a cap at a Lord a brave act

However translated 'Auld Land Syne'
Means the same. a holding of hands
The link of the chain of life
Toast him ......... Robert Burns
