Below Zero ©

Stella
Fife, Scotland
2006

Below zero means a dying back
For some plants and flowers
Overnight a shrivelled bundle
Nature is a tidy gardener

But before this
A seed pod will rattle
Making its bid
For another chance to bloom

So keep an eagle eye
Watch with care
Flowers are clever
And provide for their own
