Burns for Scotland ©

H Marshall
Scotland
2005

Now is the time
for every Scot
to swell with pride
at what we've got;
a Poet,
whose words resound
in every land

See how his verse
a legacy leaves
to lift the soul
when Scotia grieves,
or spirit,
when moods oppress,
at every turn

Hear his proud songs
and melodies clear
that stir the blood
and drive out fear;
and merit,
what praise abounds
from every pen

Sing of his Star
and beaming light!
Teach all our youth
what is their right!
And credit
Burns, the master,
in every school!
