Burn's Night ©

Moira Kloos
Ontario, Canada
2003

B is for Burns and there is none other,
he's Scottish as Haggis,
Thistles and Heather.

U is for us,
all gathered here,
to honour oor Rabbie this night of the year.

R is for remembering with unending measure,
the poems and songs he wrote
for us and all the world to treasure.

N is for his namesake
which possesses no clan history,
yet this man was a genius and after dying became a celebrity.

S is for Scotland,
the land he adored and the anthem he left here,
is her great reward.

No gathering's complete,
without hearing the sound,
and no matter the country this song is renowned.

So let's drink to the fame of it,
you all know the name of it ....
AULD LANG SYNE!
