Clouds ©

John McCormick
Bass Lake, Ontario, Canada
2003

I see poodles in the sky
and think as they roll by,
how dreary life would be
if it were cloudless.

Shapes shift,
in my mind’s eye,
people too
for change must vie,
as change is timeless.

Too late we realize,
like the movement of the skies,
the moment we spend in time,
is only fleeting.

So live life to the full,
obey the Golden Rule,
treat everyone with love
and understanding.

Never look too far ahead,
just live each day instead,
let people talk of you
upon your passing.

Unlike poodles in the sky,
to make a difference
you must try,
then they will know
the reason for your being.
