Disbelief ©
I have spent time in Phuket and Chennai, and my heart goes out to the people there.

A wall of water churns and roars
upon those peaceful, tropic shores
clutching with greedy hand.
Children search with desperate eyes;
the torrent will not hear their cries,
but sweeps across the land
Powerless, they seek a hiding-place
but all are gone without a trace,
beneath a shroud of sand.
No words describe our disbelief;
no tears can stem our silent grief;
we cannot understand.
