Forever, I Will Search The Ocean ©

Remember the Tsunami? It can strike again anytime!

by H Marshall
Scotland
2005

With a trembling, youthful hand
She wrote her first
"I love you!"
in the fragile sand

But a vagrant, rushing wave
from far off shore
took her words
to a distant grave

She giggled softly to me
as each word sunk,
but I cried
as they washed to sea

Soon my abject, forlorn fears
which I yelled out
were dispelled
when she kissed my tears

Then this dreadful, swirling motion
took her from me,
leaving me alone
scanning the cruel ocean
