Hogmanay Ritual ©

Stella
Fife, Scotland
2007

Time again to fold away
The year just past
Much like the table cover
Kept for high days
A gift saved for good
Starched and wrapped
Within an old sheet
Until occasion visits

Stored carefully then aired
Days of pleasure past
Hurts pain and partings
Like rust on linen
Are avoided by attention
Hence regular care
Attention to detail

Choose your potion
Like a house keeper would
Your own mix
Home and hearth
A china cup a homemade meal
Linen and life needs nurture
Look back then go forward

The cusp of a year
Like the cusp of the moon
Is a mystic time
Spin and weave
Sift the chaff
Save for good
The flax and flora of life
