Honor of You ©

Mystery Rose
USA
2006

I feel it is only fitting
That I should submit a poem in honor of you
You are one of my ancestors
Although I never knew

Your poetry has been an inspiration
Your legacy still lives on
You are still a mystery
Your love for words was strong

Many donít know how you struggled
Or how poor in deed you were
But your heart had compassion
You placed them into words

Your songs were written with intentions
To soothe your soul
Your losses and deep affections
For the two you could not know

I wish I could have shared
just one moment with you
To get a glimpse of how you challenged
What was laid upon you

From what I see in song and poem
You overcame such things
Love, sadness and loss
Never destroyed you
