Marc R. Sherland
Glasgow, Scotland
2005

Watching dawn break with the keyboard humming,
Bursting passion of a newsbreak waking,
‘Neath hot digits hope honed quick wit making,
Them the witness of ideas a summing.
There’s the tension of sweet coffee flaking,
Hot to trot is ignored urine pressure,
Press to push the keys to tape the measure,
Lest the flow disturb and it seem faking.
Then at last the finished article wrapped;
Maybe a prize winner, or merely apt;
All’s the pleasure of big balloon pin zapped,
Deflated ego in the finish act.
Off to post for final opinion mapped,
And tightened heart awaits a caged bird trapped.
