January Weather ©

Stella
Fife, Scotland
2004

Forecast is bleak
Freezing snow and the wind
That drives drifts

We all are in this together
From our firesides
Listening and watching

No news is good news
Yet one newsworthy item
Brings heartache to some

These days I fill a flask
Wear an extra layer
Think of bed as a haven

Those whose work is to clear
The way to commerce
They have their jackets on

As I settle in warmth
Book poised just so
Others are battling the elements

Some things are larger
Than all of us
Weather being number one
