Stella
Fife, Scotland
2007

Winter sea scene is grand
Etched in grey sea
Islands peep up like whales
Who nod hello to me
Show me that under this sea
Is land and shape

A bird with strong wings
Flies as if shot from a gun
To the safe rocky outcrop
Where my feet cannot follow
Such is life
Loved ones go where I cannot

Landscape mirrors life
Calm lochs and soft shores
Busy streets with busy people
Hills to retreat to and heal
Rocky places where I should not go
Reminding me that life mirrors landscape
