William Carolan
Luton, England
2003

Alarm bell rings another day dawns,
tired eyes open to greet a new morn.

We raise the curtain to look at the sky
to see if the day will be wet or dry.

Then it's down to breakfast of coffee and toast
a read at the paper and wait for the post.

Then it's off to the office or factory floor
to work we hate or simply adore.

When the day is over and all the work done
we return to our homes at the setting sun.

Time to relax, to the pub or watch tele
a bit of gardening on with the wellies

With all the excitement it has to be said
our eyes feel heavy it's time for bed.
