What a glorious local name for bog cotton (or cotton grass!)

Nat Hall
Sandwick, Shetland
2007

Feel.
Fields.
Ephemeral.
Elemental.
Dreamer's delight.
Feel marine breeze caress
green grass,
such a myriad of bobbing heads,
strong silver hair in
fields of jade or on peatlands,
dancing with grace in
wonderlight ...
They come to celebrate Johnsmas
they share stories with
snipes and larks,
a bit of love
here
by a stream
They will quiver at each sunrise,
bow in respect to
nordic sun.
