Look to Africa ©

by Hamish M Anstruther
Scotland
2005

look to Africa
and observe
the full panoply
of all human suffering,
then tell me this--
Do you not shed a tear?

cry for Africa
and disclaim
the dull endemic
hunger of children,
the diseases of man,
the incessant wars

rage for Africa
and challenge
the cruel pandemic
of rampant corruption
in wicked governments,
who stifle the Continent

cheer for Africa
and support
the raw talent
of its vibrant people
who need our help
to release their energy
