Lost in France ©

A faded photograph
A familiar street
Eyes right to a man
Found in a drawer
In her house clearance
It’s too late to ask
But there on the back
In faint blue ink
“He was lost in France”
I see by the edges
Worn by her hand
I had chanced on treasure
No need to pry
Or ask those left
Enough to be aware
