Ma Granny's Door ©

by Jean Salmond
Fife, Scotland
Adapted from the original, 2002

As I ga'ed bye ma granny's door,
I smelt the smell o' ham.
I ga'ed in an' socht a bit,
She ca'ed me greedy Tam.
She liftit up the butter pats,
And flung them at my bum.
So I liftit up the bellas's,
And blew her up the lum.
The lum ga'ed a crack,
The hoose ga'ed a shack,
An' doon cam granny in a sugarellie hat.
