Mammy's Mistake ©

Sarah Pratt
Victoria, Australia
2003

Who do I look like mammy?
And she looked at me with surprise
You've the look of your father's sister
there, right across the eyes

Where did I come from mammy?
I've told you all this before
We found you hanging on a nail
behind the coal house door

Are you glad you found me mammy?
Aye! But you were gie' late
There was many a year between you and the last
You were mammy's little mistake
