MY DAD ©

Anne Dickson
Irvine, Scotland
2006

My dad was wonderful,
my dad was wise.
even when he brought tears to my eyes.
He usually smiled,
so rarely frowned.
He always wanted me safe and sound.

He could be stern,
sometimes hard,
He was not happy, when I made him mad.
But through it all,
I know you see.
He only wanted the best for me.

He is not here,
I miss him so.
I was sorry to see him go.
He's with me still ,
deep in my heart,
so we are never far apart.

I love him now,
I always will.
He is in heaven and love him still.
He is watching over me,
seeing only,
what his eyes can see.

He was my father,
he was my friend.
I will be with him in the end.
When my life expires you see,
I know,
he is waiting there for me.
