Our Soldiers in Iraq ©

Never forget that they were prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice in our name.

H Marshall
Scotland
2004

this troubled land
of fire and heat
where scorching sand
burns more than feet

this soldier band
in foreign glen
who firmly stand
when called again

this hardened brand
of loyal men
bravely withstand
the fear and pain

this muddled hand
that they were dealt;
who'll understand
the shock they felt?

this cruel demand
on our brave youth
could be damned
in face of truth
