RENDEZVOUS ©

A Sonnet
{jfyd}

Thomas Matthew Edgar
Melbourne, Australia
2005

Bone-white the old ghost trees look down
as daylight quickly dies;
while Autumn breezes shift and play
I see my lover's eyes;

The river races to the pound
past where the old dog lies,
as moonlight filters through the trees
I hear my lover's cries.

Soft symphony of dusk unfolds
as brief time swiftly flies;
while the taste of wine still lingers on
I hear my lover's sighs,

Soft symphony of dusk unfolds…
as I hear my lover's sighs...
