Rocketing Achievement ©

Frank E Gibbard
London, England
2005

We see another rocketing achievement
Pushing human endeavour into space
Stirring those with starry expectations
And exciting the media pulse.
Good news, great news
It could not be judged as other
No angles, no shades to dim the flare
This upbeat news will grace the cover
An editor's choice, no need of brains.
Small-printed midst the eulogising
It may be glimpsed just at what cost.
Where the questioning where the appraising?
Where's the value? Where's the worth?
So much expended on such kite flying,
Would be better spent down here on earth.
