Roses and Noses ©

Hamish M Anstruther
Scotland
2004

Who supposes
that roses and noses
go together well?
The sweetest of posies
suffuse our noses
with many a pungent smell.
But only the nosey
would stick their nose
in any wild rose's pistils.
For beetles and fleas
and wasps and bees
have a habit of crawling up nostrils!
