The harvest is being gathered
Fields stripped like a fresh shave
Straw stands … a gathering of Swiss rolls
Wait for skillful farmers' attention
They scoop and store experts in collection
Is there a special tune for this?
A rousing march called “Harvest Home”?
That is played and replayed until
Tidy and with prudence all is well
In another place the grain is drying
A good summer has given golden ripeness
Bread… breakfasts and whiskey
All destined for willing buyers
Scotland’s gold grows all around
The Howe of Fife Perthshire and beyond
This island provides for our needs
The land is quietly singing her fertility chorus
