Silence 2005 ©

Stephen Daly
Glasgow, Scotland
2005

I have to tell you
that today I am scared
I just turned on the radio
and heard
it is true they all shaved
there body hair
all the pictures on the tele
showing hate
it flicks my mind
and puts me in a state
and there is no getting away
on the streets in my home town
people who look like me
paki, negro, white bully
I try not to see
trying not to live
in spiritual poverty
you see I am sick of it all
and what it might do to me
it is not the way I want
it to be
but just now I stand still
and in my mind
so not to break the silence
God if you're there
please help stop the violence
