The Angel ©

William Carolan
Luton, England
2005

I am the angel on top of a Christmas tree,
I look down and what do I see.
Baubles, tinsel and lameta like thread,
and funny little figures of Santas in red.
I also see wrapped presents in colours so bright,
for family and friends on this Christmas night.
Then suddenly there's lots of commotion,
It's Christmas day lots of emotion,
as presents are opened and wrappers are torn.
To see the presents they got on this morn.
Excitement is felt at the things they got,
the feeling is they cost quite a lot.
But this angel on top has one thing to say,
Christmas is not about presents and how much we pay.
It's about Jesus our Lord born on this day
