The chocolate circles in the penny tray
had all been pawed by plenty.
Such that the Hundreds and Thousands now
seemed more like ten or twenty

The wee white mice were scarred tay bits
by the fingernails fray the schoolweans' mits
and it worried me how, the liquorice did taper.
'I'll just have the Sherbitt Fountain! '
(Coz at least it's still wrapped in the paper.)
