Th' Last Time Ah Saw Him ©

Robbie Kennedy Bennett
Wolverhampton, England
2002

A piper's lament echoed in th' glen,
For a fella' who fell for his land.
Th' last time ah saw him he was marchin',
A prood stride an' a rifle in hand.
He believed in honour an' freedom,
Sae strang he conquered all fear.
A monument stands in th' village,
His name fades year after year.
Red poppies ur worn oan a Sunday,
For fella's who fell for this land.
Th' last time ah saw him he was marchin',
Ah stood where th' monument stands.
