Unrequited Lust ©

Paul Murdoch
Alexandria, Scotland
2004

Yes, you'll live forever;
Yes, you'll turn to dust.
If only you would just accept
Your unrequited lust.

Pathetic guilt and heady stance
You burn beneath your rust.
With muted screams and battered dreams,
Afraid to make a fuss.

Just shout it from the rooftops
Just make the most of us;
Before your bones grow dry and old
Stand proud before all's lost.

With every moment special,
Your soul to me entrust.
Relent; give up; surrender;
To unrequited lust.
