Fife, Scotland
2004

Every tragedy brings in its wake
But for ..If only and near miss
Reports in local paper
Of a resident who saw all

I realise it's a strategy
As survivor in a storm

Crashes bring rubber necks
And some are known to
follow ambulances
Hard to understand

Witness mass hysteria
When a happening awakens
A nation

However I sense a real retreat
Into that sacred place
Reserved for authentic sorrow
As Auschwitz is symbolic of Wall

Wall of disbelief at first reporting
Wall of horror for the liberators
Wall of learning for mankind
Wall of remembrance
