Waters of the Lake ©

Dawns sunlight reflects
on still blue waters
as my paddle dips
into the quiet lake
Sounds of ducks stirring
beside dappled shore
They seem to run across
the once silent water
Then take flight into
moisture laden air
I lift my paddle
and bring it down
I watch the whirls and swirls
form gently and quietly
I reflect upon how they
are much like life
Each person
a universe
a galaxy
a star
whirling and swirling
for a time
and then
no more
Some are great lights
Some are small fires
For me
the other side
of the lake
awaits
after
all
