WINTER IS HERE ©

Anne Dickson
Irvine, Scotland
2006

Winter is here, the wind and the rain.
The sleet and the snow can be such a pain.
Kids with sledges, hats and gloves,
winter coats and warm ear muffs.

Wellies, macs and snowmen too,
kids find plenty of things to do.
For me the winter can be a strain,
my car gets stuck and drives me insane.

Children love the hail and sleet
and the snow lying at their feet.
They love to have snowball fights
and slide down hills with such delight.

They love the winter more than me
and shake the snow from a tree.
They throw snow all about,
you can hear them scream and shout.

They don't care if it's cold you see,
and run about the snow with glee.
Winter's a time to sledge and ski,
but that is really not for me..
