Who are the Scots?

Mary, Queen of Scots
(1542 - 1587)
Was the last Roman Catholic monarch of Scotland. After many fierce religious disputes with John Knox and much political wrangling among her nobles, she was imprisoned and forced to abdicate in 1567 in favour of her son James VI. She escaped and fled to England but was imprisoned and held captive for 18 years. Later she was put to death by her cousin Queen Elizabeth I of England.
